Unearthed by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

When Earth finds a message from an alien race, it sets off a chain of events. Mia is a scavver, searching the newly found planet Gaia for treasures she can sell to help save her sister. Jules is the son of the world’s most famous linguistics academic and he is searching Gaia for proof that his father was telling the truth all along. In order for both of them to fulfil their goals, they must work together to survive rival scavvers, alien temples, and traps and puzzles left behind tens of thousands of years ago. But what happens when the answers aren’t what Mia and Jules expected to find?

Told in alternating chapters between Mia and Jules’ points of view, this book is a brilliantly paced space adventure that is sure to appeal to anyone who has ever wondered if there is other intelligent life in the universe. The story feels very much like Indiana Jones in space, and the world building is so vivid it makes visualising the planet of Gaia and its temples effortless.

This is a wonderful read that will surely please sci-fi lovers aged 14+
